From 14 April, HIF will temporarily pay benefits for Telehealth consultations for some ancillary health services delivered to Members by approved providers via video conferencing or telephone where clinically appropriate.
“We know it’s now difficult for Members to access ancillary health treatments and services covered under Extras,” Graeme Gibson, HIF Managing Director said. “So now we want to help Members access clinically appropriate Telehealth consultations in lieu face to face treatment during this time.”
Where a Member is undergoing an existing course of treatment or has a referral from their doctor or medical therapist, benefits will be paid for;
- Dental (item 919);
- Physiotherapy (items 811 & 812);
- Psychology (items 701 & 801);
- Speech Pathology (items 501 & 502);
- Occupational Therapy (items 601 & 602); and
- Dietetics (items 301 & 302).
“We’re focussed on supporting Members during this difficult time, so we’re assessing other potential Extras services that can be effectively delivered virtually,” Graeme said.
