Non-urgent elective surgery temporarily suspended in Australia

On 25 March 2020, and effective immediately, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that all non-urgent elective surgery will be suspended temporarily in public hospitals. 

For private hospitals, the temporary suspension of non-urgent elective surgery will be effective from 1 April 2020. Only Category 1 (urgent) and some exceptional Category 2 (semi-urgent) surgeries will continue until further notice.
